Monthly Trip to Casa Museo de Miguel Hernández 17th November 2022

Field Trip on Tuesday 19 April 22 This was to the ‘Hotel Encarnación’ at Los Alcázares.  We met at the ‘Venta Puerto 3’ restaurant, Los Alcázares, where we had our Christmas lunch.

Members met at 10.30am and walked along the sea front to the hotel where they assembled in the courtyard to admire the elegant surroundings and enjoy a cup of coffee. The hotel was built in the late 19th century by a wealthy industrialist and is thought to be the first hotel complex to be built on the Mar Menor. Its thermal baths proved popular, and it was visited in 1924 by King Alfonso XIII. Its courtyard is a venue for musical concerts in the summer and also for ‘El Día de Caldero’ a Spanish national holiday which is celebrated on 12 October every year. The Camera Club’s main subject of interest was a tour of the thermal baths with examples of authentic period furniture and the balcony surrounding the courtyard with all its accompanying flowers and greenery. When the tour was ended, members took a short walk to ‘Restaurente Ramón’ where they enjoyed an excellent meal at this popular eating place.

Field trip Tuesday 15th March 2022

For the March Field trip to San Pedro Marina, the Club was joined by three new members, Margaret Harding and Pete and Ann Passey. Having assembled in the ‘Lidl’ car park at the Fishing Boat roundabout on a very grey windy day, nine members then proceeded to an accommodating restaurant at a garage down the road for a cup of coffee and a chat. Eventually, the Club took to the road again and headed for the marina. Along the way, a few flamingos were spotted but, as their heads were all underwater busily searching for fish, they were not really suitable for a photograph, so the group carried on to the coast. Once at the marina, although the heavy cloud made for a rather grey sea and sky, the wind had attracted a couple of sail boarders who added a bit of colour and provided an interesting scene to photograph. After an hour or so of wandering around the breakwater, shore and marina, it was time for lunch so, as there was very little open locally, members drove into Pilar de la Horradada where they enjoyed an excellent meal at the ‘Chino Asia’ restaurant.

Note-None of the windsurfers were Camera Club Members

Field Trip to El Carmoli 18th October 2022

For our October Field trip to El Carmoli we were joined by three
new members, Margaret Cooke, Alan and Sheila Hutchings. We
assembled at the Venta El Puerto 3 for refreshments before the
short drive to El Carmoli/Punta Brava, Mar Menor shore.
We then ventured onto one of the five new bathing platforms that
have been installed on the beaches of Punta Brava & Los Urrutias.
The sun was just coming out from a cloudy sky which was ideal for
taking pictures of the scenery, some planes appeared and a canoeist
and even a few flamingos were sighted, all making good subjects
for the shoot.
We then drove along to the sailing club at Los Urrutias, taking
pictures of the yacht’s and boats being repaired.
To finish off the day we drove back to The El Carmoli Restaurant
for Menu del Dia, which was enjoyed by all.
A total of 13 members/ guests participated and enjoyed a fantastic
